Celestial Riding Academy is thrilled to offer a unique "Homeschool with Horses" program, blending hands-on horsemanship and riding with engaging academic lessons. Designed specifically for homeschool students, this program provides a holistic learning environment where children can connect with horses, develop practical skills, and explore a variety of subjects in an exciting, interactive setting.
Program Overview
Our "Homeschool with Horses" program is designed to provide a consistent and enriching equestrian experience throughout the spring season. To accommodate different levels of commitment and rider experience, we offer two distinct, weekly sections:
Homeschool with Horses 101 (Foundations): Held every Monday from 12:30-3:00PM. This foundational course introduces students to basic riding skills, safety, and core horsemanship concepts.
Homeschool with Horses 102 (Intermediate): Held every Thursday from 9:30AM-12:00PM. This course expands on riding techniques, stable management, and integrated academic lessons. To sign up for Homeschool with Horses 102, students must have successfully completed Homeschool with Horses 101 or obtain direct permission from their instructor.
Program Dates: January 26th- April 30th, 2026
No Class: Cobb County Breaks Observed- February 16th-20th, 2026 & April 6th-10th, 2026
Weekly Schedule: Section 101: Every Monday 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM, Section 102: Every Thursday from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Cost: $600 for the Fall semester, with payment plans available
Our Unique Curriculum & Weekly Structure
Each session is thoughtfully divided to maximize learning and engagement:
9:30 AM - 10:15 AM: Horsemanship (H)
Focus on essential ground skills, horse behavior, and stable management.
10:15 AM - 11:15 AM: Riding & Tack Up (M)
Hands-on riding instruction, including the process of tacking and untacking.
11:15 AM - 12:00 PM: Educational Lesson (E)
Academic integration, exploring horse-related topics through science, history, art, and more!
Monthly Focus & Learning Objectives (Section 101):
Month 1: January
Horsemanship (H): Fundamental Barn Safety & Understanding Horse Body Language. Learn how to safely interact with horses and interpret their communication.
Riding & Tack Up (M): Meet the Horses! Gentle introductions, basic leading, and getting comfortable around our equine partners.
Educational Lesson (E): Equine Anatomy (Body Parts), Exploring Different Horse Breeds, and Basic Terminology.
Month 2: February
Horsemanship (H): Grooming Basics, including essential Hoof Care. Learn to keep horses healthy and clean.
Riding & Tack Up (M): Basics of Riding – focus on balance, steering, and stopping using shared horses and lead line riding as needed.
Educational Lesson (E): History of Horses – Incorporating captivating stories, historical facts, and creative art/reading activities related to horses throughout time.
Month 3: March
Horsemanship (H): Understanding Tack (bits, saddles, bridles) & Basic Stable Management practices.
Riding & Tack Up (M): Developing Independent Riding Skills & Collaborative Riding (sharing arena space and horses).
Educational Lesson (E): Science & Math of Horses – Hands-on activities exploring horse weight, measurements, and feeding calculations.
Month 4: April
Horsemanship (H): Getting Show Ready – Preparing horses for a polished appearance.
Riding & Tack Up (M): Preparing for a Show (Optional/Tentative) – Practicing show patterns and arena etiquette.
Educational Lesson (E): Equine-Themed Book Club – Engaging in reading and discussion about horse literature.
